Kiambu

This coffee is sourced from the Kiambu Country. We usually see coffees labelled by the smaller towns or localities—places like Ruiru, Limuru, or Thika—but they all sit under the Kiambu umbrella. The Dormans team, creating a top-notch blend showcasing what Kiambu has to offer! What we’re tasting from here tends to lean into classic Kenyan structure. This is created from outstanding daylots that are two lower quantities to create their own lots so they were picked out to become part of this blend.

Kiambu is just north of Nairobi, sitting in the central highlands at the base of the Aberdares. It's a region that's long been associated with coffee—partly because of its elevation and climate, but also because of the sheer history here. The soil is red and volcanic, rich with organic material, and rainfall is consistent enough that farmers typically see two harvests a year. 

Most of the land here is made up of large estates but there’s still a strong network of
smallholders and co-ops who process their own cherries and sell through the auction
System, which is where these coffees came from.
